Tobacco Free Families (DCTFF) smoking cessation program were selected to join a roaring crowd of 85,000 fans on Sunday as the Redskins took on the Buffalo Bills. DCTFF encourages smoking cessation by providing free lozenges, counseling and patches to D.C. residents.


Quitline® Callers Featured at Wizards’ Smokefree Night Read


A group of Quitline® participants were treated to a VIP basketball game experience to congratulate them on their efforts to free themselves from tobacco. A smoking cessation PSA from DCTFF ran during the game, one participant was interviewed during halftime by Dave Johnson, and the participants were featured on the scoreboard to honor their success.

DC Tobacco Free Families Announce Campaign to Make D.C. Smoke Free Read Browse


Partnering with Caron Butler of the Washington Wizards and Christian Gomez of D.C. United, D.C. Tobacco Free Families (DCTFF) sets their sites on making D.C. a smokefree city. This follows a piece of legislation was passed in December 2006, providing a grant to the American Lung Association of D.C. to fund health care initiatives.


Officials Launch Transit Campaign Targeting 100,000 DC Smokers Read Watch


MediaForce and DC Tobacco Free Families (DCTFF) will soon launch the DC Quitline® 1-800-QUIT-NOW Transit Campaign. DCTFF is a partnership that encourages smoking cessation among DC residents and educates on the harmful effects of secondhand smoke. The kickoff will feature massive billboard trucks with messages encouraging smokers to quit, and broadcast television, cable and radio ads promoting smoking cessation.


The Tobacco Free Families Partnership Kicks Off Awareness Campaign


The DC Tobacco Free Families campaign launch is planned for May 2007 to promote DC's smoking cessation assistance and secondhand smoke awareness initiative. The program offers DC residents free access to Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and counseling via the 1-800-QUIT-NOW D.C. Quitline®.

The video was produced in association with the family of Darrell Green, and in memory of Rudolph Valentino Fenner, Darrell's father-in-law, who died in 2005 from lung cancer caused by smoking.

MediaForce recently introduced a PSA promoting the District of Columbia’s 1-800-QUIT-NOW Quitline®. The spot will be broadcast on District of Columbia radio and television stations, and was shot at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in DC. The spot features a number of hotel employees that have successfully participated in the 1-800-QUIT-NOW smoking cessation program.


Darrell Green Releases PSA for Tobacco Free Families Partnership Watch


MediaForce is working with Darrell Green, former seven-time All-Pro defensive back for the Washington Redskins, to promote smoking cessation through the DCTFF campaign. The campaign's outreach effort provides counseling and other smoking cessation services at no cost to DC residents.


Dr. Elmer Huerta Featured in PSAs for DC Latino Community Watch


Dr. Elmer Huerta, President of the American Cancer Society, recently appeared in a DC Tobacco Free Families PSA helping to promote smoking cessation. This Spanish-language PSA will assist in promoting the 1-800-QUIT-NOW Quitline® that provides DC residents free access to counseling and other smoking cessation services.

NHLBI / NIH Promotes DASH Eating Plan via Safeway


A national in-store campaign for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute will be launched by MediaForce in May 2006. The campaign will air in approximately 1600 Safeway stores across the country and include over 155,300 broadcasts. The spot promotes the NHLBI's DASH eating plan which is clinically proven to reduce blood pressure.


Debi Thomas, MD returns to the Ice in a PSA for AHRQ/HHS


MediaForce completed a PSA shoot with former Olympic figure skater and current orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Debi Thomas, that encourages people to take health care more seriously. The video is part of the Department of Health and Human Services’ "Be Active in Your Health Care" campaign and will be released in the summer of 2006.


National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) In-Store Campaign


MediaForce will soon release a booklet entitled The Power to Control Diabetes is in Your Hands in Pennsylvania pharmacies. The booklet provides ways to effectively control the disease and take advantage of some of the benefits offered by Medicaid to pay for supplies and services.


"Smoking Cessation" PSA Features Former NFL Pro Darrell Green Watch


A video PSA focused on smoking cessation features former NFL All-Pro Darrell Green and school children from Rockville, MD. Scheduled for release in February 2006, this program was produced and distributed by MediaForce in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation.


Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) In-Store Program


MediaForce recently launched an in-store campaign for Giant and Stop and Shop stores nationwide. The campaign featured DVDs providing parents and kids ages five through nine with important tips on diet and exercise, and utilized both in-store audio and circular ads to promote the availability of the DVDs.

Over 2600 Wal-Mart stores nationwide aired a PSA produced by MediaForce, the Office of Minority Health (OMH) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The PSA features former Olympic figure skater and orthopedic surgeon, Debi Thomas, and encourages family members to make regular check-ups for their loved ones.
